How dare you people try to compare our relationship to "that girl I dated for a week back in the 8th grade" or
"that guy I kissed once".
You take it as a joke because it's a long distance relationship.
"Oh, I know him better! I spend more time around him"
Yah, but how often do you spend 6 HOURS A DAY DOING NOTHING BUT TALKING?
Learning about one another, learning how they work, what they like.
All you people out there who have boyfriends and girlfriends that live within 4 or 5 hours from you,
STOP COMPLAINING. I'd like to see you step into my shoes.
Step into Kasey's shoes.
Feel what it's like to be with someone 3 years, and to have touched them once. One time. To have felt them, heard them, smelled them, ONE TIME. In a 3 year time period.
How dare you think you know what we're about.
How dare you think you know what we're going through.
How dare you think you can get on our level and chat about what it's like.
We're not putting on some emo facade for all of you lame asses. This is our relationship, stop treating it like a game.
And, god forbid, once you've spent 3 years away from your spouse, boyfriend, girlfriend, fiance, loved one, best friend, YOU TELL ME how it feels.
You tell me the meaning of loneliness.
Till then, stop complaining about how your boyfriend bugs you with how loudly he chews his food.
Or how he looked at another girl today.
Or how he forgot to buy you a rose for your anniversary.
Or how neat they are, or bossy, or messy, or laid back, or shy.
Remember that there are couples out there who would KILL to see how their loved one leaves the bedroom. Leaves the bathroom. To see how they greet you on your birthday, Christmas, Valentine's day.

Take your head out of your butt and realize that there are people out there who WANT to be annoyed with their boyfriend/girlfriend's habits.
Stop taking it for granted.
Stop thinking you were born DESERVING such a thing. If that were the case, couples like the one I'm involved in wouldn't exist. It's not something you can just toss away.

Stop pretending you know about love, you know about betrayal and loneliness and heartbreak. Stop pretending that because your boyfriend didn't meet you at lunch today that it's all over.

Get a grip.
